Vote Bison PSA Teen Video Contest
Help encourage others to elect our national mammal!
This election year, we have the perfect nominee for the coveted position of national mammal. The iconic bison is impeccably qualified to join the bald eagle as a symbol of the United States.
The largest land mammal in the country, our nominee helped shape the Great Plains and the lifestyle of the Native Americans who lived there. Bison have been important for centuries to our history and culture, and today, they live in all 50 states.
The bison is ready for the big leagues. It's an animal we can stand behind as national mammal—but we need your support to make it happen. Please join this historic grassroots campaign: Create a 30-60 second public service announcement (PSA) encouraging Americans to urge the U.S. Congress to enact S. 3248 / H.R. 6304, the National Bison Legacy Act. The contest is open to teens ages 13-19, and the deadline to submit your video is Monday, October 15 by 5:00p.m. EDT. One winner will be chosen from each of three age categories: 13-14, 15-16, and 17-19. Winners will receive a $100 American Express gift card and have their PSAs featured on nationalmammal.org!
How to Participate
- Check out the Official Contest Rules, including the PSA Video Submission Guidelines
- Research the Campaign: Learn more about the National Bison Legacy Act by exploring the nationalmammal.org website
- Shoot your PSA: Get creative and have fun! Make sure to include the Vote Bison logo. If you can't get to a nearby zoo to get some bison footage, feel free to use our images, but make sure to give proper credit! Our Vote Bison PSA Tips and FAQs page should help you too.
- Send it in! Save the PSA video to DVD and mail it to:

You may use the Vote Bison logo and bison images from the Contest Sponsor, which are available for download here, without any fee, subject to the following license terms and conditions:
Vote Bison logo: The license to use the Vote Bison logo is a limited license to use the Vote Bison logo in your PSA entry in the Contest. The license is not transferable or assignable to others, and neither the license nor the logo may be sold, shared or distributed. The logo may be used for the PSA only, and no other purpose. By accepting this license and downloading the logo, you understand and agree that you are not acquiring any ownership right, title or interest in the logo and that you will do nothing to assert any such rights in the logo, other than the right of limited use specifically granted here. All other rights are retained by the Contest Sponsor. The logo must be used "as is" and no changes may be made to aspect of it, including but not limited to its color, font, proportions, elements or arrangement.
Bison images: The license to use any of the photographic images of bison taken by Julie Larsen Maher is a limited license to use such images in your PSA entry in the Contest. The license is not transferable or assignable to others, and neither the license nor any of the images may be sold, shared or distributed. The images may be used for the PSA only, and no other purpose. By accepting this license and downloading images, you understand and agree that you are not acquiring any ownership right, title or interest in any of the images, and that you will do nothing to assert any rights in such images, other than the right of limited use specifically granted here. All other rights are retained by the Contest Sponsor. All images must be used "as is" and may not be cropped, edited or altered in any respect. For all images, credit must be given to "Julie Larsen Maher ©WCS" either in conjunction with each photo and/or on a credits page.
